I decided to pick this Allstate Mayhem commercial starring Dean Winters, as I personally can relate to this as my dad always tailgates other people when he drives. This commercial ad was obviously created so viewers would want to use Allstate Insurance, but they also want their viewers to come to  so they don’t have to worry about situations like the one in the ad. This ad may seem to be a super far stretched and made for a short little bit of humor during a commercial break but if you think about it how often do you have someone riding your rear end and you are just hoping and praying that they don’t hit you, I know I have had that more than once before. The ad's target audience is mainly adults as they are the ones who would be needing their insurance packages. The ad also uses a play on words with tailgating meaning riding on someone else’s rear end when driving, and also the party that takes place before a football game. The author also organized this ad in a way that the viewer knew everything about the situation and where able to infer what would eventually happen, it showed Mayhem behind the wheel with his all his football gear in the car, then shows him almost hitting the car in front of him, then they shift the view to the car in front of him and how he is viewing the situation until he eventually gets in an accident. The author is also trying to use the American culture of needing insurance on everything to their advantage as well. Think about how every time you buy a new buy a new item doesn’t matter if it’s a stove, computer, phone, or even tires they always try to sell you an insurance package.

In the end this commercial is based on a person whose whole day is ruined from getting in an accident because of someone else tailgating them. There isn’t much going on as far as colors or a spectacular view adding anything to the design. There is no music in the background just the Dean Winters talking about what he is doing and why you need Allstate Insurance to be protected from people like him. This commercial’s general purpose is to entertain its viewers while also persuading them to purchase their insurance.

    Hi, I also like this ad because it reached its intended audience which is people like me who love football. I like the humor of it and when it's time for me to get on my own insurance I feel like Allstate would be a good fit for me just by watching this ad. Great job!

    Hello! You did a great job analyzing this ad and explaining the meaning/purpose behind it while also including the intended audience. I liked this ad because it was pretty funny, but also, like you said, it was predictable but still entertaining!

    Awesome way of analyzing the purpose of the ad. I also believe that these commercials are sometimes a little to stretched for the purpose of humor and making it more interesting. I actually like watching these ads because I always find myself laughing.

Entry #3 the M!nt

  I had just finished eating Taco Bell with my friends, and the combination of the bean burrito, the Mtn Dew Baja Blast and the tacos I had, were not feeling so hot in both my stomach and my mouth as we continued on into our night. I needed some kind of pick me up to feel a little better. When I took the small little red tin out of my pocket, I could hear the other ones shaking and sliding around inside.
